This was nothing short of an absolutely dismal performance by a team supposedly in the promotion hunt. Billericay fans left baffled by the performance. East Thurrock have adapted well from promotion, but you need to take points from home bankers like this to get promotion. The first half finished 0-0 and was a fairly even game. Although Billericay keeper Ricky Millard had to twice save from ex-Grays striker Steve West and save once from Martin Tuohy. Billericay didn't really trouble East Thurrock with the exception of a John Simmons free kick and a wide header by goal shy Nathan Elder when he should have done better.
Billericay Town's defence had the game off second half and offered some early Christmas presents to East Thurrock. Firstly a poorly set offside trap failed and allowed Lee Burns in to score. Steve West was then given all the time and space he needed to make it 2-0. Billericay managed a consolation from prolific scorer Danny Hockton's header, but never looked like getting back in the game. Gary Wotton made it 3-1 to the visitors to leave Justin Edinburgh and the Billericay fans fuming at their team. |
